2022 trends: approved

If you listened to ep. 01 PART ONE of AG in cars talking fashion on my Instagram then you don’t need the whole run down of how I feel about trends. If you read my 2021 list of approved trends than you also don’t need the whole run down of how I feel about trends. If you haven’t done either of those things, go for it! They’re fun! There are many trends that are not on here and that is because I either don’t think they’re sustainable/worth it or I just don’t approve of them from a subjective perspective. So without further ado, I have approved of these trends that just may be emerging in 2022.

primary colors

Red and Cobalt made my 2021 trends list, but now I’m adding yellow. Kelly green too, even though it’s not primary. I think these bold, simple colors are everywhere and it is not accidental. Love that.

the elevated sweatpant

These are everywhere on Liberty’s campus and they are in my closet as well. I think flared sweatpants/leggings are super cute and trendy right now. I also think a good kick flare terry cloth pant or a ribbed straight leg pant is chic too. Just make sure to not get too pajama-y with your look if you’re heading to class or to the market! I feel I should add I’m not talking the patterned, way too tight, flair Free People pants that were major during 2016-2018. Those were bad.

the tall boot

I succumbed to this one. Ladies this is not the flat riding boot you wore in 2012 with your infinity scarf and American Eagle jeans. I promise! It has a heel, it is layered under a long dress or straight leg denim, or you tuck your suit into them and go on with your Tuesday. I love mine, the heel makes all the difference I promise!

the 60’s + Y2K

Looking at Spring 22 I noticed a heck ton of 1960’s mod prints and silhouettes as well as the Y2k accessory game. The mini skirt is here, the elegant men’s suiting is here, and I just love the out and about feel with a bit of fun that this trend is giving!

UGGs

I never ended the UGG charade, but I did modify mine. I wore UGGs in public in 2012 and 2013. This changed in high school and all of college as I used them as my indoor slippers. Well they’re back but the short one’s are the one’s making the cut this time. I don’t want to see your tall one’s at the market people! But yeah it feels weird wearing them out and about again, but yeah I’m wearing them in my favorite local coffee shop with my flare sweatpants as I type this.

cropped jackets

I didn’t like cropped jackets. They felt too awkward and juvenile for me. It wasn’t until Tibi - keep tabs on Tibi people they always know what’s up - began their cropped jacket game last year that I knew they weren’t going anywhere anytime soon. I wore one on Christmas Eve and again to an event last week. I’m 5’2 so it is quite flattering on my body type but forget that, they are so sick for layering too! Blazers, coats, denim jackets, the list goes on.

What would you add? Can’t wait to see if these hold true or not! We’ll have to wait and see!
