the Virgil Abloh exhibit

Y’all I’m going to tell you about a blessing in my life. I have a quick MARTA train ride to the coolest spot in Midtown. I have been visiting the High Museum of Art since I was a little girl. It has the most beautiful permanent exhibits (including my favorite artist, Howard Finster) and luckily the most beautiful exhibits stop by on their tour. My brother Benjamin is the High’s number one fan so we will go together quite often when we are home at the same time. He’s the one who introduced me to Finster’s work!

Virgil Abloh has graced the High’s presence and I had to see it with Benjamin while I was home for Christmas! If you don’t know who I’m talking about I will give you a brief rundown: he is the creative director of Louis Vuitton and founded the street style brand, Off-White. You’ve probably seen his infamous yellow, Off-White belt … it looks like caution tape, says Off-White, and it’s just super street style. He is a man of many talents (DJ, designer, has a degree in architecture, buddy pal of Kanye) and I’m thrilled I was able to see his exhibit. It was certainly an alternative exhibit to what typically comes to the High but it was so super duper fun, especially to a fashion lover like myself!

Is it not super duper cool? Below are two pieces by Finster; I wanted to include him because A) he’s my favorite artist and B) he shares the Gospel in such an eclectic and unique way. Each piece is going to have Scripture or the Gospel on it in someway or another. Finster made 9 short of 46,000 pieces of art in his lifetime and that is the most artwork by a singular artist in our world’s history! It is an incredible example of using the talents our God has given us for His glory!

If you are ever in town, make sure you stop by the High!
